In the course of the construction of a new railway line for the high-speed train ICE, various widespanning bridges had to be built to cross deep river valleys. Due to the speed of the ICE trains these bridges are subject to extreme loads. Special care had to be taken of these loads when engineering the filigree bridges.

The bridges were calculated by Prof. Dr. Hans Georg Reinke during his time at Harries & Kinkel.
