BIM

Building Information Modeling (BIM) is a method to optimize planning, execution and operation of a building using its digital twin with all geometrically and functional information. All relevant information of the building is collected, modeled and recorded within its digital representation over the building’s lifetime. This data model can be also geometrically and functional visualized as a virtual model of the building. This allows the easy sharing, coordination and collaboration as well as the storing of all relevant information concerning this building with all parties involved. Thus it becomes possible to build up a reliable basis for decisions during planning, construction and operation. If used to its full extent, the data model can be further updated during the whole life-cycle. It thus becomes a useful tool for facility management tasks as well as for refurbishment and finally even deconstruction.

Werner Sobek has routinely used BIM software and methodologies to plan major national and international projects since 2010. This experience ensures the highest standards of planning and consultancy services, even when dealing with complex construction projects.

We provide consultancy services to architects, developers, and contractors. Our services span from the preparation of BIM execution plans (BEP) and data models at the early design stages to the preparation and coordination of detailed models to be used as basis for fabrication and erection. Bills of quantities and clash detection and control analyses can also be provided.

Our search for permanent improvement has been acknowledged by the German Federal Government through the granting of research funds for DigitalTWIN, an interdisciplinary research project together with several other renowned academic and industrial partners.

Werner Sobek employs Building Information Modelling both for internal purposes (as “little bim”) and when cooperating with various external project partners (as “Big BIM”).

In order to maintain our high standards, Werner Sobek also uses little bim for internal planning when working with external partners, even if this is not explicitly required as part of the assignment.

Werner Sobek has a wide experience not only in dealing with a BIM platform (Closed BIM), but also in using several BIM softwares within a project, thus managing the resulting interfaces (Open BIM).
