Artist Carsten Nicolai from Berlin designed this 10 m high glass sculpture for a central square in Stuttgart. The sculpture is a temporary installation due to remain at its present place for two years. The sculpture is made of a minimized prestressed space framce of steel clad with triangular glass panes. The glass panes — which are up to 6 m large — were mitre-cut for minimized joint widths. They have a special chromium multi-layer coating, making them reflective in daytime and transparent at night. At night the sculpture is lit from the inside by lights built into the base of the sculpture.
