The gate house at the Trumpf factory in Ditzingen represents an alternative form of extreme dematerialization. Central element of this highly transparent facade is an acrylic fin. The fin is linked to the glass panes of the facade and serves as a bracing post. Thanks to the use of acrylic, the posts attain a slenderness that far exceeds the technical limits imposed on conventional glass fins. The transparency and reduction of the structure is further underlined by the extremely slender canopy cantilevering nearly 16 m.
