Sparkasse Gross-Umstadt

For some years now, the Savings Banks Association has been pursuing the goal of becoming more sustainable at all levels. The goal is therefore to holistically renovate the savings bank buildings in operation. The greatest challenge here lies in the heterogeneous building stock.

One example of the potential of such a holistic refurbishment is the savings bank in Groß-Umstadt. In addition to urban planning and building services issues, aspects such as user comfort, internal processes and the arrangement of workplaces were also taken into account in the planning.

DMK Award for Sustainable Building 2016

The employees were actively involved in the process. The renovated building achieves the extremely economical passive house standard (EnerPHit) and was also certified according to DGNB. The operation is optimised with a monitoring programme. After the refurbishment, the building emits up to 80 % less CO2 and offers maximum comfort for employees and customers alike.

In 2016, the project received the DMK Award for Sustainable Building.
