Hamburg Wharfs Bridges

The escape bridge bridge complex spans the canals and streets of Hamburg’s Speicherstadt warehouse district. The individual bridges have spans of 15 to 60 m, and their total length is more than 600 m. Common to all the escape bridges are the steel sections used and their colour.

Werner Sobek was responsible for the structural engineering of the project.

Wooden Handrail with an Inviting Feel

The walkway, which is above the highest high-water mark and has wooden planking, as well as the railing design are identical on all bridges. Particularly in the case of the railing, a great deal of planning care was taken in the design of the handrail. It is made of wood and its width and shape invite you to lean your arms out during a break.
