The new terminal building is approximately 430 metres long and 22 metres high. On a number of levels it offers passengers as well as visitors bright and spacious accommodation areas. Thanks to the use of extensive glazed areas, the activity on taxiways and runways can be observed, contributing to the experience of flying.
Owing to the quality of the building site and existing constraints, the height of the airport building had to be minimised. This was achieved by a roof structure consisting of a filigree-like steel/glass design whose shape is reminiscent of an aircraft wing.
