Charles de Gaulle Bridge

The pedestrian bridge over Charles-de-Gaulle-Straße connects the Deutsche Post high-rise building in Bonn with the nearby Rhine meadows. The bridge, designed by Werner Sobek, is approx. 35 m long and approx. 13 m wide. It is a composite construction with haunched steel girders. Connecting solid concrete slabs form the transition to the abutment and the roofing structure of the access gallery.

Pedestrian Bridge Into the Green of the Rhine Meadows

The bridge has a minimum slab thickness of 120 mm in the field area. Its jointless construction was achieved by a horizontally elastic mounting of the abutment on piles. The railing consists of a glass railing with partly curved glass panes.
