Werner Sobek Receives Global Award for Sustainable Architecture

Prof. Werner Sobek is one of five laureates of this year’s Global Award for Sustainable Architecture. Mr Sobek is honoured for his groundbreaking research as head of ILEK (Institute for Lightweight Structures and Conceptual Design). The other laureates are Prof. Ersen Gürsel (Turkey), Rozana Montiel (Mexico), Ammar Khammash (Jordan), and Jorge Lobos (Chile).

The Global Award was created in 2006 by the architect and scholar Jana Revedin. Each year it is awarded to five architects who contribute to a more equitable and sustainable development. The awards will be handed over in the framework of a conference at the Cité de l’Architecture in Paris on 13 May 2019. More information on the award and on the conference may be found at
