The Nike Air Box at Gorky Park Moscow
Already the Scorpions celebrated the green heart of Moscow with the song lines “I follow the Moskva down to Gorky Park, listening to the wind of change”. The famous park has established itself as a place for culture, recreation and sports.
We are particularly pleased that Werner Sobek was able to work on two great projects at this location. Next to the art museum Garage – for which we did the facade and the TGA engineering as well as a thermal simulation – there is now the Nike Box MSK. The Box was designed by the Moscow-based architectural consultancy KOSMOS.
The Box is a free innovative cultural and sports centre that is open all year round. The sports centre includes a modern football and basketball courts, a functional platform for yoga, the Nike Training and Running Club bases. The facade, with its three-dimensional metal lattice, acts as a membrane between the interior and the park. Werner Sobek was in charge of the structural engineering of the building.
