Built using a conventional load-bearing construction and standing at a total of 140 metres in height, this high-rise tower on the AFE site in the city of Frankfurt am Main has been designed to function as a combined hotel and residential building. A four-storey subterranean parking garage underneath the structure extends out beyond the boundary of the building’s plot and connects the tower block with the Therapoda office building next door. Hotel facilities are situated in the lower half of the tower that stretches from the ground floor up to the 15th storey. The upper half of the tower, ranging from floors 17 to 40, is earmarked for apartments. A service level located on the 16th storey separates the two sections of the building. Plans for the tower also include the addition of a set-back penthouse storey up on the roof space that could potentially also be used to perform a service function. The building’s basement storeys include large parking areas for apartment residents and hotel guests as well as various storage spaces and rooms for building services.
