The different special facades represent a particularly disting-uishing feature of this twelve-storey office building located in Washington DC’s central business district. These special facades include a „lobby facade“ and several „screen walls“. The „lobby facade“ consists of a mullion and transom construction that sees the panes of glass secured to glass fins measuring 6 m in height. Special load-bearing constructions were developed for the „screen walls“. By utilising inclined girders and filigree elements designed to bear tensile forces these constructions not only ensure an efficient transfer of loads but also create the greatest possible degree of trans-parency.
