The new Josef Eberle bridge provides an important link in the medieval centre of Rottenburg am Neckar. The threebay, reinforced concrete bridge construction stretches elegantly over the river. The body of the bridge consists of prestressed concrete slabs up to 60 cm thick. The cross-section becomes narrower towards the edges of the bridge and at the abutments. The very low overall height of the bridge superstructure was made possible by the use of cutting-edge building technologies and pre-stressed concrete utilising high-strength concretes.
