One of the interior courtyards at Stuttgart’s new «Olgäle» Children’s Hospital is adorned with a mobile by rosalie, an artist from the city. The mobile includes a total of 24 butterflies that are suspended from the top of the courtyard itself. Made from coated, high-grade stainless steel, the butterflies measure nearly one metre in diameter and each weigh 24 kg. They are intended to evoke the six continents – a theme which runs throughout the entire system put in place to help people navigate the Olgäle. This is reflected in the six varieties of butterfly on display, which can be distinguished by their different colours and forms. The highest butterfly floats 25 metres above the courtyard floor.
