In front of the Swarovski factory building in Wattens/Austria, a highly representative steel curtain will separate public space from the factory premises. The curtain is made of steel rings with a diameter of 12 mm each. This material has hitherto only be used for safety gloves etc., but never on such a scale for architectural purposes. For this reason the material was tested extensively at the University of Stuttgart.
