House of Astronomy

Werner Sobek was responsible for planning the facade of the extravagant building project for the House of Astronomy in Heidelberg. The ground plan and shape of the three-storey building are based on a galaxy with two spiral arms. The facade follows the curved ground plan along the free edge of the building shell and is structured by transparent window bands as well as convex and concave sloping parapet bands.
