RIBA International Prize 2016 – Shortlist

The Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku includes a new national museum, a library and a concert hall. Central element of the architectural design is the unity between plaza, landscape design and double-curved building envelope. The complex geometry of the building as well as the remoteness of the building site were two specific challenges for the facade engineers of this particular project. In autumn 2016, the Heydar Aliyev Center was shortlisted by a prominent jury for the newly installed RIBA International Prize.
