The urban planning situation of Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse (B14) was to be improved in the short term until the 2006 Football World Cup and at relatively low cost. For this purpose, Werner Sobek developed a concept for a partial covering of the federal road at the level of the Wilhelmspalais. With the help of the 84 m long and 24 m wide partial covering, large areas of the Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse could be closed within a short time and then landscaped.

Fast, Expandable and Green Interim Solution for Problematic B14

In a second expansion stage, the cover can be integrated into a tunnel structure without significant reconstruction measures – later costs for a tunnel construction measure would be reduced accordingly.

The Konrad-Adenauer-Strasse (B14) in Stuttgart represents a caesura in urban development, and the elimination of this corridor has been discussed for several decades.
