The new REWE Green Building Supermarket of the Future excels through its coherent building concept that guarantees a high-level of user comfort whilst reducing primary energy requirements by 48 % (observation includes retail refrigeration). Besides the building’s low energy needs it is the water management concept, the 164 kWpeak photovoltaic array, the use of natural building materials and refrigerant as well as emission-free paints that make an especial contribution towards achieving high comfort levels, low lifecycle costs and greater ecological quality. During the course of the certification process accompanying the project WSGreenTechnologies (WSGT) optimised amongst others the invitation for tenders, issued or coordinated the provision of the necessary verifying documents and their subsequent assessment. WSGT also calculated the lifecycle costs: these achieved the best-possible assessment rating in accordance with the requirements of the DGNB Certificate.
