Vienna’s Rudolfstiftung General Hospital is located in the 3rd district known as „Landstraße“ in the southern centre of Vienna. As the only high-rise building in its immediate vicinity the towering block that is home to the Rudolfstiftunghospital can be seen from afar. The overall ensemble comprises the existing high-rise building and a new extension building that continues to act as a powerful and bold eye-catcher within the modern-day silhouette of the city of Vienna. The extension consists of an 18-storey, south-side extension orthogonal to the existing building. A roof-top helicopter landing pad completes this extension. The facade construction consists of a double skin with a sunshade fitted in the space between the skins.
