The design for the new National Museum of Qatar by Jean Nouvel is inspired by the organic-crystallic shape of a desert rose. The sculptural architecture is determined by ca. 500 different disc-shaped volumes that intersect and form an overall envelope surface of ca.106,000 sqm. 70,000 individually shaped FRC panels on a customized substructure are used to clad the building.
