Bridge Aalen

The direct connection of the Stadtoval area to Aalen’s city centre by means of a pedestrian bridge over the tracks is an important prerequisite for the success of the urban development measure.

The Aalen municipal council selected Werner Sobek’s design for this task. It envisages a wide-span, elegantly recessed ribbon that swings over the tracks.

Spiral staircases at the two end points minimise the access areas in the public space. LED elements integrated into the railing provide an impressive light display for the bridge at night.

Widely Exciting, Elegantly Recessed Ribbon

The Stadtoval is one of the most important projects for the development of Aalen’s city centre in the coming decades. In the immediate vicinity of the main railway station, approx. 220 to 250 residential units, commercial areas, cultural facilities and open space with a high quality of stay will be created.
